Ingredients
Method
- Take a mixing bowl and place a large sieve over it. Start sieving each ingredient one by one, so as to get a fine, lump free mix - whisk to combine them evenly
- Use a spoon/scoop to transfer this to air tight jars. Top your hot chocolate mix with chocolate chips/shavings/marshmallows etc. Enjoy!

To make hot chocolate using the mix
- In a mug, add two tablespoons of the hot chocolate powder with a cup of milk, stir in throughly. Microwave for 2 minutes, top with chocolate shavings and serve
- Or in a saucepan, add two tablespoons of the hot chocolate mix with a cup of milk, stir in throughly and simmer until just about bubbling. Remove from heat, pour in a mug and serve
Notes
- Make sure to use good quality cocoa powder for a rich hot cocoa experience
- I have used light brown sugar as my sweetener. You could use granulated, white sugar or even powdered jaggery
- If you wish, you could leave the sugar out in your pre-mix. You can sweeten your hot chocolate once it's made as well
- You can flavor the mix with spices, dried orange zest, pumpkin spice, etc. In that case, mix it in step number 1
- This will stay fresh up to three months
- These quantities yielded about 250 grams of homemade hot cocoa mix
- 1 cup = 250 millilitres
- tbsp - tablespoon
- tsp - teaspoon
