Easy homemade mulled wine

An easy, fragrant and perfectly spiced mulled wine recipe that you could make at home to warm your winters up

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bottle dry red wine
  • ½ cup maple syrup or 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 sticks cinnamon sticks
  • 3-4 green cardamom
  • 1 star anise
  • 2 small bay leaves
  • 3-4 cloves
  • 2 tbsp lemon zest
  • ¼ cup dried cranberries
  • 3-4 slices dried oranges
For garnishing (optional)
  • ½ cup fresh cranberries
  • 4-5 slices orange

Equipment

  • Sauce pan

Method
 

  1. Add all the spices and dried fruits with the maple syrup and 1 cup of wine in the sauce pan
  2. Simmer this over medium flame. Once the mixture turns fragrant ( around 5 minutes) add the rest of the wine
  3. Give it a stir and let this come to a simmer and then remove from flame
  4. Strain and pour the easy homemade mulled wine in glasses. Serve warm, garnished with fresh cranberries and orange slices. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can add other spices like dried ginger, all spice etc too
  • Fresh fruits like apples and pears can also be simmered along with the wine
  • tbsp - tablespoon
