An indulgent chocolate mug cake recipe with Nutella that you can make in a microwave, in under two minutes – perfect for those untimely dessert cravings!
Mug cakes are super popular and justifiably so. After all, when you can indulge in a dessert with prep time of less than five minutes, then why not? Likewise, they are my favorite for the same reason. Moreover, the portion size of mug cakes are also incredibly appealing. These microwave bakes are perfect to satiate those 4pm hunger pangs or untimely dessert cravings. And my favorite of them all is a chocolate Nutella mug cake. Adding a tablespoon of Nutella to my regular mug cake just makes it more sinful! And because I wanted to make it extra special this time, I have also added some walnuts and strawberries to it. However, the best part still remains the fact that it took me all of 15 minutes of my total time to do all this. What more can one ask for! 🙂
This microwave chocolate Nutella mug cake is a wonderful recipe to make for kids as a snack. You could make theirs in smaller mugs to control for portion size. And even if you don’t have Nutella readily available replace it with chocolate chips or pieces. There shouldn’t be anything stopping you from making this decadent treat for you or your kids. In fact, on holidays you could involve them in the making process, too. It’s a quick, easy and safe recipe that you could do with your kids as a bonding activity. They will throughly enjoy it and also be rewarded with a delicious treat at the end of it. Isn’t that a win-win situation?

Microwave mug cake recipe
My favorite microwave chocolate Nutella mug cake gets done in about 60 to 90 seconds. The time, however, will depend upon your microwave and the size of your mug. Nonetheless, since this is an eggless mug cake recipe, even if yours remains slightly gooey it is still going to be edible and yummy. So, if this is your first time making microwave mug cakes, you could start with keeping it on high and cooking your mug cake for 60 seconds. If you feel your cake isn’t cooked through, you can further microwave it for another 30 seconds. Once done, remove, dust it with some icing sugar, top it up with berries or even ice cream if you like and dig in. When serving it to children, make sure that you let the mug cake rest until it isn’t too hot to touch or eat, for them.
While you can definitely make this recipe when you need a quick bite, you could also make it and serve on special occasions too. You can alternatively, leave out the baking powder and make a mug brownie using the same recipe. So, sky is the limit when it comes t0 getting creative with your chocolate mug cake recipe. And if you happen to try mine, do let me know how much you like it. You can share your food pictures with me on Instagram and Pinterest. You can also drop your feedback in the comment section below.
