Delicious and refreshing this iced dalgona coffee is a quick and easy thirst quencher that you ought to try this summer
Yay I finally have a coffee recipe here, on my blog! For all you coffee lovers who have waited this long, my apologies, but better late than never right? So, here is my very amazing and refreshing iced dalgona coffee recipe to beat the heat. Not only does this layered coffee look lovely, but it is really easy to put together as well. The only important bit in this recipe is to beat the heck outta the coffee powder, sugar and water. That is what creates that wonderful froth, that you top up the milk with. The best way to do that is to use an electric whisk. Not that you can’t achieve that when you whisk it manually, but it is going to require some arm workout and probably more time. I have whisked the three ingredients (using an electric whisk) for a good five minutes. You are going to need to come to a point where you get soft peaks out of the coffee mixture.
This will enable you to top it over the milk and will also form, when you do. Now since I making an iced dalgona coffee here, I’ve used chilled milk for my recipe. We are enjoying the warm temperatures here with my l glassfuls of chilled summer drinks. However, if you’d like to make a warm cuppa for yourself, leave the ice out and replace the chilled milk with warm milk. This delicious, frothy coffee in enjoyable both ways. Isn’t is just amazing that we get to enjoy it in summer as well as colder seasons? Furthermore, if you’ve ever had the Indian style hand beaten coffee, you are going to love this drink. The prep is the same, only difference is that the milk is added to the coffee mix and not the other way round like in the Korean version.

This iced dalgona coffee is one of the easiest coffee drinks that you can put together, this season. All you need is coffee powder, sugar and milk and just 15 minutes of your time. I have used powdered jaggery to make my cold coffee, but you could absolutely replace it with sugar. While I have used equal parts of coffee and sugar for my iced coffee, you can adjust the amount of sugar you’d like to add in yours. However, I have observed that, whenever I have used coffee and sugar in the ratio of a 1:1 I have got great results. On the other hand, even more sugar than coffee powder gives good results. The combination of these two ingredients, with water, is what gives the gorgeous frothy texture that this coffee is so popular for. That’s why the quantities are important.
One note of caution, be sure to serve this delicious and refreshing drink as soon as you make it. You will have ti mix the frothy coffee topping with the milk and then have it, to get the best results. If you keep the coffee sugar mixture for longer, it is going to loose the bounce and froth. This is make it difficult for you to use it as a topping. Nonetheless, you could still mix it in milk and have it. Only that, it isn’t going to give the “dalgona” look. I hope you are going to try tis easy and delicious iced coffee recipe and enjoy it on a warm, sunny day! If you happen to make it, you can share your food pictures with me over on Instagram, too. I’d love to see them 🙂
