How do you like the idea of a pizza baked and ready to eat in 30 minutes? Sounds good, doesn’t it. And that is exactly what my quick and easy pan pizza is about. I have made everything from scratch and yet this is an under 30 minute pan pizza. The crust is thick and yummy – just the way pan pizzas are supposed to be. And the pizza sauce is the same one I made for my spicy tomato chorizo pasta. For my toppings, I have opted for chorizo, capsicum, mushrooms, onions and mozzarella. But, that is totally a personal choice. You could any veggies, protein or cheese, as you like it. In fact, with this recipe, you could also keep it to just the sauce, mozzarella and basil leaves.
So, the base of my pan pizza is made with whole wheat flour, baking powder, salt and water. Just four ingredients is all you will need. However, you could could self raising flour here as well. In that case, you won’t need the baking powder at all. So, there you go, three ingredients for your pan pizza base! What can can better than this? And all these three ingredients, are the ones you already have in your pantry! Therefore, you could make this quick and easy pan pizza even for weeknight dinners and not just weekends.
Pizza sauce
The tomato pizza sauce for this recipe is even simpler! If you’ve gone through my chorizo pasta recipe you must have seen it, and I hope made it too. 😉 If not, then let me tell you, I have blitzed together tomatoes, garlic and some spices together to make it. And that one, is a keeper! While I also have a pasta and pizza sauce, which I cook and make too, but this one is a life saver. Especially, when short of time. And trust me, it is equally delicious.

 Pizza topping
For my pan pizza, I have simply stir fried the chorizo and vegetable together with some salt and chilli flakes. That’s it. Hence, it’s not taken me much time for this, as well. And like I said, you can choose whatever topping you like, for this. Additionally, you could also cook and keep your topping ready a previous day or over the weekend. This comes in very handy when plan to make the pizza on a weekday. Some other toppings that I can think for this are peppers, combination of cheeses, grilled chicken, pepperoni etc. Nonetheless, the sky is the limit when it comes to pizza toppings. So, you could go all out with whatever you’d like.
Pizza base
There isn’t a lot of kneading you will need to make a great pizza base, with my recipe. You will, however, have to knead enough so that the flour is well combined with the water. And give a rest for about 15 minutes. That is why my pan pizza recipe is a complete joy without much hard work. After all, isn’t that how cooking good food should be. 🙂
To cook the pizza, you will need an oven proof pan for this recipe. Even an iron skillet works wonderfully well here. Basically, the pizza base will cook on a stove top until it’s underside is cooked. This should take about 5-7 minutes. After which, you will layer on the sauce and the toppings and then bake, until done. By done, I mean another 7-10 minutes. However, if you don’t have an oven, you can continue cooking on your stove top too. You will just need to keep your pan covered and continue cooking, in the later case.
Serving suggestions
You could serve you absolutely delicious pan pizza, garnished with some fresh basil leaves, hot out of the oven! There isn’t anybody who doesn’t like a pizza and this is going to be even more enjoyable. This quick and easy pan pizza is a total winner of a recipe that you can create with very few ingredients. And your toppings could be whatever you have at your disposal. So, do give my recipe a try and enjoy with your loved ones. Also, it would mean a great deal to me if you could drop a line with your feedback and/or rate the recipe. You could also share your pizza pictures with me over on Instagram. I’d love to see it turned out for you!
