The smell of baked goodies and simmering mulled wine, and you know Christmas is around the corner. And I love both, making as well as having these. As my well decorated and lit Christmas tree goes up and the feeling of festivities starts engulfing us, my home also smells of cakes and spiced mulled wine. Now, while I already have some loaf cake recipes on my blog, it’s time for an easy homemade mulled wine recipe. And that is what this blog post is about! Come December and you will always find a fresh batch of this spiced and warm wine simmering on my hob. Whenever friends are over for dinner or it is only me and the Mr. watching Netflix, this is what we are sipping. Not only is it super easy to make this, but it also truly enjoyable. Also, the aroma of the warm spices filling the house, is so lovely. And yes, it then, does smell like Christmas! 🙂

I always have at least one glass of mulled wine, without fail, whenever I am visiting Christmas markets. Be it here, in London, or anywhere else in Europe. So, I have curated my easy homemade mulled wine recipe inspired by what I have liked best from everywhere I’ve tasted it. Now, you could get the ready made mulled wine spice mix and make it, but nothing like the joy making it from scratch, right? And like I said, it actually is a pretty easy recipe. And with all very easily available ingredients.

So cozy & warm

As far as spices are concerned, my mulled wine has got cinnamon, star anise, cardamoms and cloves. Moreover, I have also added some, dried orange slices, lemon zest and dried cranberries. The zest, cranberries and the dried oranges add a delicious zing to the wine recipe. Also, the beautiful citrusy fragrance simply elevates the taste of the drink. However, you can add any other spices or add-ons that you like, as well. For example, all spice, dried ginger, fresh apples, pears etc. Hence, you can easily customize this deliciousness, as per your taste. Furthermore, I have sweetened my mulled wine with maple syrup and not sugar. You could pretty much add sugar, but I chose maple syrup for this one.

A warm glass of my easy homemade mulled wine on a chilly December evening, feels as festive as it is cozy. This deliciously spiced wine looks good, smells great and tastes awesome. So, do try my easy mulled wine recipe at home this festive season for your family and friends. And I am sure, even you are going to be making a fresh batch everyday. 🙂

Cheers!
